E-commerce in Indonesia continues to flourish year after year. According to the SEA e-Conomy 2023 research by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, the gross merchandise value (GMV) of e-commerce in Indonesia in 2023 reached US$62 billion (IDR 975.3 trillion) and has the potential to reach US$160 billion (IDR 2.51 quadrillion) by 2030.

According to Momentum Works, in 2023 Indonesia was among the countries with the highest e-commerce transactions in the Southeast Asian region, contributing 52% of the total GMV in this region. However, the value of e-commerce transactions is still relatively small compared to offline retail. Oosga stated that in 2022, e-commerce transactions in Indonesia accounted for only 3.42% of offline retail transactions. This is still significantly lower compared to the United States, which is already at 16.75%.

This shows that the market for Indonesian e-commerce remains wide open and can be further expanded. With this in mind, Transcosmos Commerce is one of the leading e-commerce enablers in Indonesia, providing holistic services from sales strategies to fulfillment to help brands maximize online sales.

In order to increase online sales, collaboration with e-commerce enablers is beneficial in three key ways:

1. Boost the sales 2x

The main goal of e-commerce enablers is to increase online sales for their clients. Due to their professional resources and experience in this area, e-commerce enablers are the best choice to partner with.

With competent resources and cutting-edge technology to boost sales, Transcosmos Commerce clients' sales have doubled on average in the first 3 months. The increasing sales are attributed to the strategy and execution of advertisements on marketplaces where the average Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) reaches 21x.

2. Improve logistics process efficiency

A smooth and fast shopping experience makes customers loyal. Smooth logistics greatly influence this factor. Consumers are less likely to return online if their purchases don't arrive within two days of their expected arrival date, according to a survey by Voxware.

With the help of an e-commerce enabler, you can improve the efficiency of the logistics process. To ensure that your products reach consumers on time, Transcosmos Commerce has dedicated fulfillment stores in Jabodetabek and already partners with  various logistics companies in Indonesia.

3. Content localization

One challenge international brands face when entering the Indonesian market is localizing their marketing materials. Language isn't the only aspect of content localization; format, design, and cultural sensitivity are also important. The importance of content localization strategies cannot be overstated.

Most of Transcosmos Commerce's clients are international brands with the best reputations and quality. All of the content and sales strategies are delivered in local content and can be well adapted to the Indonesian market.

Naoto Osada, Chief Executive Officer of Transcosmos Commerce, said, "The positive trend of the Indonesian e-commerce industry will continue for the next few years. We see there is still plenty of room for the Indonesian e-commerce industry to grow, presenting an opportunity for global brands looking to expand their market share online. We are committed to providing the most excellent quality and results to grow together with our clients."

One of satisfied client’s of Transcosmos Katsuo Kimoto, Chief Representative Roland Indonesia said “Since Transcosmos Commerce started being our enabler, in 3 months already proved its capability by bringing sales increase by far from other enablers. Not only do sales increase, but Transcosmos Commerce also contributes to maintaining our brand image as we want through professional operations and services to the end-users and partners.”
